1o Reasons Why a Daily Routine is so Important

Hello babes!

Between summer arriving and the world being...well crazy, having a routine has never been more important than right now. Many of us may not be hopping out of bed as early as we have before, or not leaving our beds at all… a girl can dream, right? LOL.

Today, I’m sharing ten reasons why a daily routine is so important. I’d like to sit here and tell you that I have great habits and that I follow a routine all the time but there are times when my good habits and routine suffer - I’m sure this is the case for many of us right now.

If you are someone who’s daily routine may be suffering or nonexistent – I promise that if there is a time to buckle down and prep yourself to get back into a routine, it’s now.

For myself, I know that I strive on routine and I know that routine works for me. With that being said, that what may work for me and my lifestyle may not work for everyone. An example being; I have an alarm set for every day of the week, including Saturday and Sundays… call me crazy but it just works for me.

Now. To get back into a routine... you’re probably thinking ok what first? I say grab a planner and a large cup of coffee – you're going to need it. Morning routine starts at night - if you want to get up one hour earlier, sleep an hour earlier. But in all seriousness. Here are some tips that have worked well for me:

  • I get up around the same time every day

  • I get into bed around the same time every day

  • I drink my coffee and eat my first meal around the same time every day

  • I work out around the same time every day

Ten reasons why a daily routine is so important:

  1. Routine creates structure in our lives

  2. Routine helps to ground us

  3. Routine makes us more efficent

  4. Routines jumpstart our days

  5. Routine helps control stress levels which leads to improved mental health

  6. Routine gives us time to relax

  7. Routine reduces anxiety

  8. Routine instills good habits

  9. Routine breaks bad habits

  10. Routine helps us become more proficient

To simplify, I have broken down my weekly routines so you can get an inside look at what I follow each week.

Weekday routine. Monday - Friday

Monday to Friday, I am in the office. I wake up at 7:15 am and begin my morning routine.

My morning routine includes:

  • Doing my hair

  • Doing my makeup

  • Brushing my teeth

  • Getting dressed

  • Making my coffee and smoothie to go

  • Out the door by 7:50 am.

I work from 8:30 am to - 5:00/5:30 pm. Depending on traffic, by the time I get home, it is around 6:00/6:30 pm.

My evening routine includes:

  • Un-packing my lunch

  • Eating dinner

  • Packing my lunch for the next day

  • Walking the dogs

  • Hanging out with family, my boyfriend or friends

  • Working out (see workout routine below)

  • Showering

During the week, I aim to be in bed by 10:00 pm and sleeping by 10:30/11:00 pm. I usually have no problem with this because I LOVE bed.

Weekend routine: Saturday & Sundays

I try my best to stick to a routine even during the weekends. I find this extremely difficult to do if I am out the night before or if I am away for the weekend. Again. Back to...a morning routine starts at night.

My weekend routine includes:

  • Wake up around 8:30ish

  • Eat something small

  • Workout

  • Make breakfast and coffee

  • Deep clean my room, windows, bathroom, and carpets

  • Shower & get ready for the day

I am usually done my morning routine by 11:30AM which gives me a full day to enjoy.

I aim to work out or get some form of exercise 6-7 days a week.

Mondays: HIIT

I love starting the week off with a good sweat! HIIT has always worked for me and I love it because it is a circuit that works your core, balance, strength, etc.

Tuesdays: Full-body with Weights

Usually, I will pull up a 45-minute full bodyweight training video on YouTube.

Wednesdays: HIIT

Mid-week, 30-min sweat!

Thursdays: Outdoor Walk

I love walking outside, especially in the summer during the evening. I will usually keep it simple and walk my dogs around the block.

Fridays: Online Barre

I have recently found a love for online barre classes. They are quick, hard, and work your whole body!

Saturdays: HIIT

Saturday morning 30-min sweat is a great way to start the weekend!

Sundays: Free for all

On Sundays, I keep it simple with walks and strength (maybe some core)

And there you have it - six reasons I love routine and the routines that I follow throughout the week. Are you someone whos strives on routine?

Have a great week!
